Exclusive: Almiron to complete Newcastle transfer - 'it will get done'

Miguel Almiron is set to complete his Newcastle United exit during the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that a deal for Almorin “will get done” at the turn of the year.

Football Insider previously revealed that Newcastle need to raise funds for their own transfer plans, and the sale of Almiron will help that.

The Magpies are dealing with profit and sustainability issues forcing them to sell players in order to bring new ones in to strengthen the squad.

The 30-year-old could end up returning to the MLS where he played before making the move to St. James’ Park as there is strong interest from Charlotte FC.

However, he could end up remaining in the Premier League as well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that there is interest from teams in that division.

Miguel Almiron could swap Newcastle for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is another option for Almiron as there is interest from teams to bring him in during the January transfer window.

Almiron has several options to consider, but a deal is expected to happen as Newcastle are not going to stand in his way of leaving the club.

The Paraguay international is currently under contract with the Premier League side until 2026, but the Magpies are set to cash in on him.

The versatile forward first joined Newcastle in 2019 and has gone on to make 219 appearances for the club.

Almiron has scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists in that time, but has struggled to secure a regular first-team place this season having made only seven appearances in the Premier League.
