Man City star Phil Foden took to social media to thank the fans for their support throughout the year, following a 1-1 draw against Everton in their final home game of 2024 on Boxing Day (December 26).

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes for Pep Guardiola’s side as they lost further ground in the title race and also fell further behind in the race for Champions League qualification.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a deflected shot that left Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford helpless.

Iliman Ndaiye then equalised with a stunning finish just after the half-hour mark, touching the ball down before finishing on the half-volley, leaving Stefan Ortega stranded.

Erling Haaland had the opportunity to restore City’s lead from the penalty spot after Savinho got the better of Vitalii Mykolenko, but the big Norwegian’s tame effort was easily saved by Pickford.

City’s draw with Everton sees them fall down to seventh, winning just one of their last nine Premier League games in their worst run of form since Guardiola took over in 2016.

Man City star Phil Foden addresses the fans as shocking run of form continues

The England international has failed to recapture the form that won him the Premier League Player of the Season award back in May, starting 15 of his 20 games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing two assists in 1420 minutes of action.

Foden took to Instagram after the 1-1 draw with Everton to share a message originally posted by the club thanking the fans for their continued support, saying: “Thank you for your support at the Etihad throughout 2024.”

City sit in seventh, five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal as they prepare for a trip to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester on Sunday (December 29).

Guardiola’s side will then face West Ham in their first game of 2025 with the current champions hoping the new year means a fresh start.
