Exclusive: Blackburn Rovers open talks to agree striker loan exit

Blackburn Rovers have opened talks with Motherwell over a second loan move for striker Jack Vale, sources have told Football Insider.

Vale, 23, spent the second half of last season on loan at the Scottish Premiership club and impressed with three goals and two assists in 14 appearances.

The former Wales Under-21 international is set to find himself down the pecking order at Ewood Park this season and Blackburn are willing to loan him out again to get regular first-team football.

The striker is said to be keen on returning to the Scottish club having come out and said there is “no reason” he wouldn’t return to Motherwell.

Since breaking into the first team in 2020, Vale is yet to nail down a place for Blackburn having score just three goals in 26 appearances for the club.

He did, however, score from a tight angle in the 88th minute of their 6-1 demolishing of Stockport County in the League Cup earlier in the season.

Blackburn have already lost last season’s Championship top goalscorer Sammie Szmodics who signed for Premier League new boys Ipswich for a fee of £9 million.

Vale helped Motherwell safely avoid relegation last season as they ended the campaign with 43 points.
