Keith Wyness: Everton star could now join Arsenal in shock swap deal

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah could swap clubs in the final days of the summer window in a shock deal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted he is expecting movement in attack for the Toffees before the 30 August deadline.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (17 August) that Calvert-Lewin could still leave Everton this summer due to his contract situation.

The striker’s deal on Merseyside is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 2025.

Meanwhile, sources have told Football Insider (17 August) that Everton have been trying to sign Arsenal striker Nketiah – who is also wanted by Nottingham Forest.

Sean Dyche’s side lost 3-0 at home against Brighton on the opening day of the season with Calvert-Lewin starting up front for the Merseysiders.

Wyness insisted his former side need to refresh things after disappointment against the Seagulls.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Still, Calvert-Lewin’s future is yet to be decided.

“Eddie Nketiah could be coming as a replacement, and it could even be some kind of swap deal. It could work.

“I do expect some movement for Everton up front.

“They need to refresh things after the first season. There could be a couple of things yet to drop before the deadline.”
