John Textor is planning to invest heavily in the Everton squad if he completes his takeover of the club, Goodison News understands.
Textor, 58, is currently trying to sell his 45 per cent shareholding at Crystal Palace in order to buy Farhad Moshiri out of Goodison Park.
The US billionaire currently has an exclusivity agreement with Moshiri, who’s previously tried and failed to sell Everton to 777 Partners and The Friedkin Group. However, he’s unable to proceed much further with a takeover of the Merseyside club as Premier League rules prohibit people from owning more than one club.
Sky News reported on 26 August that Textor has “received firm offers from two parties” for his Palace shares. It is understood that they are “capable of executing a deal rapidly”.
John Textor ready to use wealth and contacts to invest in Everton squad
Goodison News has been told by a source close to the takeover process at Everton that Textor is confident of being able to complete a deal with Moshiri and once he does, he wants to take the club to another level by investing in the playing squad.
Textor believes that Sean Dyche’s current squad is more than capable of avoiding relegation this season despite losing their opening three games of the Premier League season.
However, he will still want to flood the squad with new and exciting talent who can push the Blues up the Premier League table.
Over the last few seasons, Everton’s transfer business has been largely restricted by PSR. Last term, the Toffees were hit with two separate points deductions, totalling eight points, for PSR breaches in 2021/22 and 2022/23.
It remains to be seen how Textor would potentially navigate Everton’s PSR problems but the US businessman, whose Eagle Football Holdings also owns Lyon, Botafago and RWD Molenbeek, undoubtedly has the wealth behind him, plus his connections to other clubs.
According to Sky News, Textor is planning to make Eagle Football Holdings a public US company worth £1.74billion ($2.3billion) while in the summer transfer window, the Toffees struck a deal with Textor-owned Lyon to sign Orel Mangala on a season-long loan.
In other Everton news, Textor has his eyes on this Portuguese managers to replace Dyche at Goodison Park.
