Exclusive: Newcastle could match Man City as chiefs jet out to strike deal

Newcastle United are set to spearhead a new multi-club project under PiF with the club owners scouting to buy a new club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund purchased a majority stake in Newcastle United back in 2021 before adding four Saudi Pro League clubs to their portfolio.

PiF are now actively working towards expanding their football ownership portfolio with chiefs jetting out to Brazil to sound out potential takeover opportunities.

It is understood that a Brazilian club under PiF control would have direct links to Newcastle, with the Tyneside club set to become the mothership of a wider footballing network.

Multi-club organisations have grown in popularity over the past decade with Manchester City’s City Football Group leading the way.

CFG currently own shares in 13 different clubs across the globe which collaborate in sports science data, training methods and player development.

Chelsea have also adopted a similar structure under Todd Boehly and BlueCo with Strasbourg, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group now owns a stake in both Manchester United and Nice.

Newcastle’s multi-club project is not limited to just Brazil with PiF also eager to acquire additional European clubs to bolster their network.

Uefa recently declared that both Manchester clubs could compete alongside their sister sides in European competitions.
