Exclusive: Nils Koppen eyes players in one country for Rangers transfers ahead of January

Nils Koppen is keeping tabs on potential targets in Belgium as he eyes reinforcements for Rangers in the January transfer window, Ibrox News understands.

Isaac Price is the latest player plying his trade in Belgium to be linked with a move to Ibrox, with the Light Blues gathering information about the Standard Liege midfielder [Walfoot].

Reliable Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, though, dismissed those claims, saying Philippe Clement’s side have no interest in the 21-year-old.

Ibrox News has now been told by a source with knowledge of the situation that Koppen is gathering information about potential targets in Belgium.

However, it is understood that the technical director does not have anything imminent in the pipeline for early additions to the squad next month.

Nevertheless, it would not be a surprise if Rangers bolstered their ranks when the window opens next week.

The latest round of results saw Clement’s side reduce the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to nine points.

While that remains a significant difference, there is hope for a major turnaround at Ibrox, although they would need to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

Koppen and Clement being from Belgium makes the country an interesting location to target for new signings for the Gers.

All eyes are on Ibrox and Auchenhowie as the busiest period of the season kicks off.
