Exclusive: Watford open talks to sign Udinese star

Watford are in talks with Udinese over a loan deal for striker Vivaldo Semedo, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hornets are aiming to use their relationship with sister club Udinese to strike a deal for the highly-rated 19-year-old.

Semedo spent the second half of last season on loan in Holland with FC Volendam, where he scored one goal in 13 appearances.

Udinese feel the Portugal Under-19 international would benefit from another spell on loan to continue his development, and Watford are ready to take the player to Vicarage Road.

Football Insider revealed that Watford had been in the race to sign Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but they lost out to Sheffield United.

The Hornets are still looking to enhance their squad before the transfer deadline, with Tom Cleverley aiming to get a striker through the door.

Watford will use Vivaldo Semedo to bolster their attacking options

The teenager has impressed during the early stages of his career, proving himself as an exciting talent for the future.

Semedo has scored five goals in 43 performances throughout his career so far.

Semedo’s contract at Udinese is due to expire next summer, but the club is now looking to cash in on him.

Watford have started the season impressively, winning all three of their opening fixtures in all competitions.

The Hornets have done so in dominant fashion too, with the squad scoring 11 goals already.
