West Ham are under no threat of breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) after selling Declan Rice for £105million last summer.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the east London club are “extremely well run” from a financial perspective after they landed a “huge” profit following Rice’s sale to Arsenal.
West Ham have made eight new signings so far this summer after Julen Lopetegui was appointed as David Moyes’s successor at the London Stadium.
The latest deal saw defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka join the club for £15million from Manchester United, taking their overall spending to more than £120million since the window opened.
Under the Premier League’s rules, top-flight clubs are permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
West Ham likely to avoid any PSR trouble despite spending spree
But Borson doesn’t expect West Ham to find themselves in any PSR trouble despite their summer spending spree.
He told Football Insider: “I am sure they will try and move some players on, but they don’t have any PSR issues.
“One reason for that is because they have been extremely well run over the last few years.
“If you look at particularly their wage bill and the way they run their operating expenses, they appear to be very well run from a financial perspective compared to their peer group.
“That’s the first indication of resilience from a PSR perspective.
“Then laying on top of that they sold Rice for more than £100m.
“That means there are no real issues there because that was a huge amount of profit that’s gone into the three-year rolling period.”
In other news, West Ham plan to accept Danny Ings offer and sign another striker.
