Exit-linked trio score as Rangers win behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly - report

Rangers defeated Hamilton 5-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Auchenhowie on Saturday (6 July), according to Heart and Hand.

Writing on their personal X account, the reliable news outlet report that Philippe Clement’s side had their first pre-season friendly of the summer and claimed a victory with a host of first-team players featuring.

That includes exit-linked trio Cyriel Dessers, Scott Wright and Todd Cantwell, who all found the back of the net as rumours surrounding their future continue to mount.

Rangers set for big changes at Ibrox this summer

Clement has already made six additions to the first-team at Ibrox and there are likely to be even more coming before the window shuts.

Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly and Hamza Igamane have all put pen to paper on contracts this summer and are set to play a part in the first-team for Clement, but that means exits are bound to happen.

Dessers has been linked with a move away and is said to be considering his options [Chris Jack, 3 July], while the club are willing to listen to offers for Todd Cantwell [The Sun, 20 June] and Scott Wright has got no future after almost leaving for Turkey last summer.

It would be big changes, especially if the first two players were to leave as they were key to the side last season, but needs must.

Clement wants to put his stamp on the squad at Ibrox and that means making ruthless decisions as and when he needs to. Those exits would be big statements that nobody is safe, and he won’t stand for anyone who doesn’t fit into his vision.
