Rangers fans’ pressure is beginning to weigh heavy on the board at Ibrox as they call for Philippe Clement to face the sack immediately.
This is according to former Man United chief scout and Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the fans turning on the club could force them into a decision.
Football Insider revealed on 27 November that Clement is set to remain in the job until next month’s Scottish League Cup final clash with Celtic.
It is believed a decision on his future could be made in the wake of the final, with another big defeat potentially proving the final nail in the coffin.
However, Brown has insisted that building pressure from the stands at Ibrox could soon prove too much for the board to ignore.
This comes following Rangers’ shock 1-1 draw against Dundee United as they continued their turbulent start to the campaign.
Clement’s side have now fallen 11 points behind league leaders Celtic and eight behind chasing Aberdeen, leaving them stranded in third place.

Their league position has been deemed unacceptable by fans, who have made their voices heard on numerous occasions now with boos ringing around Ibrox.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with managers at the top level including Ferguson, Ron Atkinson and David Moyes, insisted that noise from the crowd can often force the hierarchy into a making a big call.
“The pressure from the fans is growing more and more,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s surprising how quickly it’s gone from being a two-horse race to them now dropping to third.
“They haven’t even been close to Aberdeen this season.
“I don’t know how much is completely the manager’s fault and how much of it runs deeper at Rangers, but you get the feeling something has to change.
“The fans there won’t put up with it for much longer. They’ve got lofty expectations and they expect those to be matched by the club.
“It’s one thing being behind them but within touching distance or falling away late on, but when all of a sudden you’ve got no chance, I can see the fans kicking up a real fuss about it.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – boards of directors do not like pressure.
“So when you get 60,000 fans all screaming for the manager’s head, they tend to listen. We’ve seen it on many occasions before.
“They want to come out on the positive end of things with the fans, so if things start to become hostile, they’ll have to make a decision.”
