John Wenham believes Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is perfectly suited to Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the 26-year-old will be successful under Ange Postecoglou.

As reported by David Ornstein (9 August), Tottenham have agreed a deal worth up to £65million with Bournemouth.

Terms are in place for a six-year contract with Solanke to undergo his medical on Friday (9 August) and Saturday (10 August).

As per Nizaar Kinsella via X (9 August), it is a club-record purchase for Spurs.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is delighted by the transfer update.

“I think this is an excellent bit of business,” Wenham said.

“Solanke ticks a lot of boxes and I believe he is perfect for the style of football that we play.

“Supporters crave big-name signings, but sometimes it is important to just bring in a goal scorer who is consistently available.

“He played in all 38 league games for Bournemouth last season, and I think he will be perfect when Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are putting those low crosses into the box.

“I am backing him to do very well in this Tottenham team.”

Tottenham to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth

It appears as though Postecoglou finally has his brand-new number nine.

It was no doubt a priority position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And it looks as though the club have filled that spot with a player who scored 19 times in the Premier League last season.

It is a big fee, and it will no doubt be a challenge for Solanke to live up to his price tag. However, based on last season, there is no reason to suggest that he can’t do just that.

In other Tottenham news, delight has emerged after an “outstanding” transfer was confirmed in North London.
