Sergio Reguilon is “not desperate” for a move away from Tottenham, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Ange Postecoglou has openly shared that the 27-year-old is not in his plans for this season but Reguilon is willing to fight for his place in North London.
With the Greek and Turkish summer transfer windows still open, there is still a chance for the Spaniard to leave Tottenham, but it looks likely that the player will remain in a white shirt for the time being.
As quoted by TBR Football, Romano told The Debrief: “Yeah there are some players still looking for moves. Ben Chilwell and Sergio Reguilon as you mentioned, nothing is really close or concrete with these two.
“In the case with Reguilon I am told that he’s not desperate for a move.
“Either there is a good opportunity or he will be there fighting for a place at Tottenham.”
Reguilon could be beneficial to Tottenham
With the international break over, Spurs are in for a run of 13 games between now and the next break in November.
The club will be competing in the Premier League, Europa League, and the EFL Cup in that time, meaning Postecoglou will need to rotate his squad to ensure there is no fatigue.
Reguilon is a fast, technical full-back, with great crossing ability, and could be the perfect rotation player for Destiny Udogie, who is prone to the odd injury – missing the end of last season after undergoing quadriceps surgery.
While the Australian manager has been keen to use Ben Davies in the left-back role numerous times during his tenure, having another option in Reguilon could be beneficial.
The former Real Madrid man recorded four assists in 16 matches on loan at Brentford last season, and would be a tough opponent for teams such as Qarabag and Ferencvaros in the Europa League.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou has said this about Yves Bissouma.
