View: Tottenham Women midfielder key for Robert Vilahamn after what she did in pre-season

Eveliina Summanen will be a key player for Robert Vilahamn at Tottenham Women during the upcoming campaign.

Pre-season preparations are well underway for Vilahamn and his players ahead of the 2024/25 season kicking off.

It has been so far so good for Tottenham with two wins from two. However, they were made to work for their most recent victory against Southampton Women on Thursday (22 August).

The FA Women’s Championship side opened the scoring through Rachel Rowe after 20 minutes, but it took just five minutes for Vilahamn’s side to draw level, with Martha Thomas netting her second goal of pre-season.

And in the dying moments of the game, Summanen stepped up to win it for the North London side from the penalty spot.

Summanen ended the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season in style.

Tottenham rounded off their campaign with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United Women (18 May). That afternoon Summanen completed 89 per cent of her passes, with two of those key (Sofascore).

In addition, she won 100 per cent of her ground duels and made three tackles, one clearance and one interception.

It was a positive note to end the season on and it appears as if the 26-year-old has taken that form into pre-season.

If she can continue to hit the levels she hit during the previous campaign, the midfielder will once again be a key performer for Vilahamn and Spurs.
