Finance Expert: Rangers to accept fresh financial 'Hit' after new Ibrox decision

Rangers are ready to take a financial hit just to ensure they get back to Ibrox “as soon as possible”, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.

The Light Blues have played their opening home games of the Premiership season at Hampden Park after redevelopment work from the summer overran into the new campaign at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement’s side will return to Ibrox for their clash with Dundee on 21 September but Plumley admits their turnover from the game will be impacted as the Copland Road Stand remains closed.

“Given the PR fallout from this from the off it’s a case of let’s get back there as soon as possible,” Plumley exclusively told Ibrox News.

“They can put the whole thing to bed and whether or not you have to take the slight hit to deliver that, that’s the kind of stance that they’re taking.

“We’ve talked a lot at length about the financial side of it having not been able to play there already, we’ve talked about the financial side of it, we’ve talked about the impact on fans and the wider PR take on it.

“None of that has been overwhelmingly positive so I think from the outside looking in that they may not be able to hit the ground running for that particular game, but in the future that will be fine.

“It’s just a case that they’ve got to get back there as soon as possible.”

When are Rangers back at Ibrox after Hampden Park saga?

The decision-makers at Rangers have been rightly slammed for their failure to get the redevelopment work concluded on time at Ibrox and it is clear that they are keen to get supporters back onside quickly.

While this whole situation should have been avoided in the first place, it is at least positive to see that the Light Blues are willing to sacrifice a potential financial windfall to try and get games back at Ibrox sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, the finishing touches will be put on the Copland Road Stand quickly so that the Gers’ home ground can be open at full capacity in the coming weeks as Clement’s side look to kickstart their season.
