Jamie O’Hara has hailed Jordan Pickford and suggested that being at Everton is holding him back.

The 30-year-old was handed his 72nd England cap as the Three Lions took on Greece on 14 November in the Nations League, and the goalkeeper pulled off some great saves in the 3-0 win.

Speaking on talkSPORT [16 November, 18:26], O’Hara praised Pickford while aiming a sly dig at the Toffees, highlighting his performances with the national side.

“He’s always good for England, isn’t he? Do you think he’s underrated?” he said.

“Because he plays for Everton, he doesn’t win anything. They’re always struggling. You forget about him as a great. But for England, when you watch him, he’s fantastic.”

Jordan Pickford consistent for Everton and England

It’s unsurprising to see Pickford holding on to the goalkeeping position for both club and country, with the shot-stopper consistently performing.

At Everton, the Englishman has been the go-to for every manager since his move from Sunderland in 2017, and he has repaid the faith consistently.

Over the last few years, the 30-year-old has come in clutch for the Blues, making saves that have potentially saved his team from the drop.

For England, Pickford has been similarly good and was part of a team that made it to several semi-finals and finals under Gareth Southgate.

While the Englishman has come under criticism because he’s not the best with the ball at his feet, there can be no doubt in the 30-year-old’s shot-stopping ability, as was on show when Everton drew 0-0 against West Ham in the Premier League on 9 November.

The Goodison faithful will have no qualms about Pickford going under the radar and not attracting interest from top sides, as they’ll relish his continuity in Merseyside.
