Four Lads makes new Todd Cantwell exit prediction at Rangers

Stevie Clifford has predicted that the Rangers career of Todd Cantwell will end this summer if a decent offer is made for his services.

Speaking on The Rangers Review with Chris Jack, Clifford said that Cantwell has not hit the heights expected of him at Ibrox, and has become an easy target due to his inconsistency and lack of impact.

Clifford maintained his wish to see Cantwell be a success at Ibrox but acknowledged that it’s more likely his future will lie elsewhere next season.

The Four Lads Had a Dream host said: “I really like him, but he does himself absolutely no favours.”

“There has been zero indication to me that Todd Cantwell has really done it when it properly matters.

“He’s got baggage now as well, he’s an easy target and quite easy to be picked off.

“I really want him to succeed, but I don’t think he’s going to succeed at Rangers. So, I think that Cantwell’s time at Rangers, if we get a decent offer this summer, will be over.”

Todd Cantwell to leave Rangers

Philippe Clement’s squad rebuild at Ibrox this summer has already sent a clear message – out with the old and in with the new, in terms of both playing numbers and the age profile of his squad.

All three of the Belgian’s signings so far are 20 years old or under, while four players over 30 in John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe and Borna Barisic have already been let go [Daily Record].

Todd Cantwell’s time at Rangers could well be up this summer.

Cantwell, at 26, is in the middle-ground of this policy, yet still looks likely to depart the Gers this summer having underperformed massively since Clement’s arrival in Glasgow [The Sunday Mail].

Eight goals and five assists in 44 overall appearances this season is simply not enough for a player in his position to contribute, particularly when looking to fight for silverware on multiple fronts.

The former Norwich playmaker still has time on his side to forge a successful career at Ibrox, but with Rangers undergoing their biggest overhaul in many a year, it remains to be seen whether he’ll get the chance.

In other Rangers news, a fresh Lawrence Shankland transfer update has already emerged at Ibrox.
