Fulham are interested in signing Ernest Nuamah after the Lyon ace’s deal to join Everton collapsed last month, according to the Sunday People.

On page 55 of the publication’s print edition [22 September], Darren Witcoop reported the Cottagers are set to head back in to sign the 20-year-old winger, who had agreed terms at Goodison Park before the deal stalled.

Nuamah had previously begun a medical with Fulham as Marco Silva attempted to replace Willian with an £18m agreement, but had a change of heart and stayed with current club Lyon – owned by John Textor.

Sean Dyche did manage to get two players snagged from the Ligue 1 outfit, as Jake O’Brien and Orel Mangala signed for the Toffees.

It’s unclear whether Everton will dip back in to enquire over Nuamah again in time for January, with the Ghanaian appearing to bide his time to mull over his next move.

Highly rated and with many suitors having shown enough concrete interest for the player to start a medical with Fulham, it seemed for all intents and purposes he was certainly off to the Premier League in the summer.

But with the move having failed to materialise, ears at the Toffees will have pricked up ahead of potentially revisiting the deal after Dyche failed to sign another winger in the same mould as Nuamah.

Fulham, on the contrary, averted their attention to Reiss Nelson and managed to complete a loan agreement, as the Arsenal star scored in their win over Newcastle United at the weekend while Everton languish in the drop zone on a solitary point.

Significant plans will already be written out ahead of the winter window and it may well be one the club have to get spot on to secure survival.
