The three best players Tottenham missed out on signing this summer, including player compared to Phil Foden - opinion
They missed out on a top level playmaker...????
Tottenham Hotspur signed five players in the summer transfer window, with Dominic Solanke’s £65m arrival from Bournemouth the most expensive.
The North Londoners outlaid a total of £124m, though, their net spend was around £78m after making a number of substantial sales, including Oliver Skipp’s transfer to Leicester City.
Yet, despite a productive window, it could’ve been even better if they didn’t miss out on these three targets…
Georgiy Sudakov – Shakhtar Donetsk
Georgiy Sudakov was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham earlier this summer but the £60m deal failed to materialise.
Sudakov, who has been compared to Phil Foden per talkSPORT, enjoyed a terrific season for Shakhtar, netting 10 times whilst laying on six assists.
The 2002-born playmaker would’ve provided terrific depth in attacking midfield, rotating with James Maddison.
Tottenham will certainly be keeping an eye on his progression this term.
Santiago Gimenez – Feyenoord
Tottenham were reportedly on the verge of signing Santiago Gimenez in June as they looked to bring in a number nine.
Instead, they opted for Solanke later in the window and it remains to be seen if that was the right call by the recruitment team.
Gimenez has scored 53 goals in 90 outings for Feyenoord since arriving in 2022 and has been labelled ‘one of the top 10 players in Europe’, per MedioTiempo.
Pedro Neto – Chelsea
Before Pedro Neto completed a £54m transfer to Chelsea, Tottenham were tracking the Portuguese wide player.
Neto has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League over the last few seasons but his injury record may have put Spurs off from signing him.
Either way, they’ve missed out on a top player.
