Goodison View: Sean Dyche hypocrisy frustratingly clear after what he did in Everton v Brentford

Sean Dyche seems to be walking on eggshells as Everton continue to struggle to gain momentum in the Premier League.

The Toffees had to settle for just a point against the 10 men of Brentford on Saturday 23 November, with Christian Norgaard sent off for a contentious challenge on Jordan Pickford.

With only a point at Goodison Park, Dyche’s side are only two points above the dreaded relegation zone after the first 11 games.

Fans are likely to analyse every single one of the manager’s actions and words from now on, with pressure quickly growing on the club to find a replacement for the former Burnley man.

The 53-year-old has certainly not helped himself amongst the fans after claiming there is “no evidence” to suggest that Iliman Ndiaye can play in a central role [Liverpool Echo].

That is mainly because one of his biggest changes to the formation during the 0-0 stalemate with the Bees was to move the Senegalese into the centre of the pitch alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin [Sofascore].

It is clear to see that Ndiaye was forced to hug the touchline much more against West Ham [Sofascore], a game in which he had two shots, created zero chances and was closed out of the game [FotMob].

Against the Bees, the winger moved into the centre and was able to unleash three shots, create four chances, complete 100 per cent of his dribbles and win two fouls [FotMob].

Of course, Brentford’s red card must be taken into account but it has been made rather clear that there is evidence to suggest he can play off the flank, and Dyche has been made to eat his own words.

Fans have been calling for this change to be made, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still struggling to hit the back of the net, and it will be interesting to see if Dyche learns from his mistakes and adopts a similar role for Ndiaye going forward.
