Ross McCormack believes that Rangers would still be looking to sign Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland.
The former Gers striker has stated that the 29-year-old is the best striker in the SPFL and has raved about his hold-up play.
Last season, Shankland bagged 24 league goals for Hearts en route to the Golden Boot and recently admitted he’s expected to be on his way out once his contract expires.
When asked if Gers would still be looking at the Scotland international, McCormack said on Open Goal at 36:11: “Oh yeah.
“In the last few games where I’ve watched Shanks, every part of his game apart from his goal scoring has been great. His hold-up play, his link up.
“I think he’s easily the best striker in the SPL. His touch and awareness is top.”
Lawrence Shankland can be a useful option for Rangers
Shankland, who’s bagged 24 goals in each of his last two league seasons and a total of 207 strikes in his career can be a decent option for Gers.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, he represents a potentially cost-effective signing, allowing Rangers to bolster their squad without a significant financial outlay.
Shankland’s familiarity with the league could ensure a swift integration into the team, potentially aiding Gers in their bid to regain a competitive edge in domestic competitions.
His acquisition could prove pivotal in turning around their season and securing crucial points in the league.
Cyriel Dessers is clearly not the option for the Ibrox outfit and while Shankland is not a long-term fix, he seems to have two to three good seasons in him.
Hopefully, the Ibrox hierarchy can sanction a move for him in the January transfer window.
In other Rangers news, a former Gers player has labelled it a “terrible decision” to move to Ibrox and has branded it the “biggest mistake” of his life.
