Heart and Hand share 'Killer' reaction after Rangers loss v Manchester United

Heart and Hand believe Rangers “desperately” need to add a striker to the squad after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Murrayfield.

Writing on their personal X account (20 July), the fan account reacted instantly to the pre-season defeat after goals from Amad Diallo and youngster Joe Hugill.

Striker Cyriel Dessers missed a couple of big chances during the game though, and that was enough evidence to convince the Ibrox fans that new faces are needed.

“The lack of quality we have up front is a killer,” they wrote.

“Desperately need some quality brought in there.”

Rangers desperate for a new striker

It won’t come as news to anyone at the club, but there is overwhelming evidence now that Dessers just isn’t good enough at this level.

The Nigerian scored plenty of goals last season, which is a testament to the amount of chances the team created, but a lethal finisher up front would have been able to score even more and that could have been the difference at the back-end of the season when the team collapsed.

As a squad option or back-up, someone like Dessers is perfect to push the competition for the position and make an impact in certain games, but he can’t be relied upon for a whole season to lead the line.

It’s not a shock that the club are open to listening to offers for him [Chris Jack], but a replacement will be needed and with just two weeks to go until the season starts things aren’t looking good.

Maybe Danilo can be the man to step up and score the goals needed, but after a serious injury that would be a big gamble too. The board need to dig their hand into their pocket and get a deal done for a top striker, or the season could be over before it even starts.
