Michael Ball has savaged Everton strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto after the 0-0 draw against Brentford on Saturday.
The Toffees were hoping to pick up the three points against 10-man Brentford at Goodison Park on 23 November, but failed to find the back of the net.
Calvert-Lewin started the game and Beto was brought off the bench by Sean Dyche, but to no avail.
Discussing their performance on the weekend, Ball told the Liverpool Echo: “The lack of movement up front is horrendous, whether it’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Beto, there’s no running in behind, running across defenders, breaking your neck to get in front. It feels like a case of ‘you’ve got to find me’ and it’s just static play.”
Everton need a different kind of striker to lead the line
It’s evident that the Toffees need a different kind of striker leading the line for them.
Both Calvert-Lewin and Beto are one-dimensional forwards as they are tall and strong men who like the ball being played to their feet.
While that’s a decent strategy to implement against sides that are weak in the air, it cannot be the go to thing for Dyche.
Iliman Ndiaye is an option to lead the line who can offer something different with Jesper Lindstrom moving to the left.
Hopefully, Armando Broja, once he’s fit again can lead the line for the Toffees because both Beto and Calvert-Lewin cannot be relied on to score goals.
If things don’t change, it won’t be surprising if the Toffees find themselves in the relegation zone again and it remains to be seen how long Dyche can hold on to his job.
In other Everton news, a Toffees man has been savaged and called “abysmal” and “pathetic” after what happened recently.
