Barry Ferguson has lauded the improvement of four players at Rangers including Ianis Hagi with Philippe Clement now having something to work with.
Rangers have seen a huge improvement in performances in recent weeks despite their Scottish League Cup defeat to Celtic.
Clement isn’t clear of the sack quite yet, but the improvement in performances has bought him some more time with Ferguson praising the impact Hagi, Nico Raskin, Hamza Igamane and Nedim Bajram have had in particular during that period and ex-Gers skipper gave the verdict that the boss has shown plenty of improvement with this side.
“Philippe Clement has got something to work with in terms of where this team are going and there’s no doubt there have been some big improvements made over the last month or so,” Ferguson said via the Daily Record (20 December).
“Guys like Nico Raskin, Ianis Hagi and Hamza Igamane have made a huge difference and Nedim Bajrami is starting to look like a £3million player now he’s being deployed in the No.10 role.”
Ianis Hagi has the ability to change fortunes at Rangers
There is no shying away from the fact it has been a dismal league campaign for the Gers with the Light Blues sitting 11 points off the top with Celtic leading the way.
However, credit is due when it comes to the improvements that have been made in the last few weeks and Hagi has played his part in that.
Ferguson has also praised Hagi previously and his involvement going forward could prove key to Clement’s side continuing the run they’ve mustered up recently.
With that said, Rangers are still trophyless as it stands and failure to address that will be a major failure at Ibrox if it remains that way until the end of the season.
League success looks unlikely given their poor start but a Scottish League Cup is still in sight as well as the Europa League in which they have given a good account of themselves.
Utilising Hagi could provide Clement with a massive boost in their hopes of achieving success in those competitions.
