'I didn't see': Ange Postecoglou unhappy with the referee for what he kept doing as Spurs lost to Arsenal

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou was not overly happy after seeing his side lose to Arsenal yesterday.

Postecoglou looked on as his Spurs side rarely threatened the Gunners backline and in the end, they surrendered quite easily despite the game only finishing 1-0.

Of course, things might have been different had Jurrien Timber seen red for a rash tackle on Pedro Porro.

Gary Neville confirmed live on air at the time what VAR had said about Timber, albeit Frank Leboeuf completely disagreed and felt Timber should have walked.

The game in general felt like it was a feisty affair and the eight yellow cards handed out by Jared Gillett suggested that was the case.

However, Ange Postecoglou appears to have a different view.

Ange Postecoglou unhappy with the referee during Tottenham v Arsenal

Speaking after the game about the referee and the match in general, Postecoglou felt the need for so many yellow cards was unnecessary.

“I don’t think it was [a physical battle]. I didn’t see the necessity for so many yellow cards

“But I guess the referee decided. I didn’t think it was that kind of physical game. It was a tight game,” Postecoglou said.

Gillet refereed the game just fine

Postecoglou has come under fire a bit recently for being a bit edgy in his press conferences and interviews and to be honest, this is another example.

Postecoglou seems to be feeling a bit of pressure and that’s coming across.

In fairness to Jared Gillett, he refereed the game well and most of the decisions he made were correct, albeit VAR had to help on occasion.

In a feisty atmosphere and with plenty at stake, these are hard games to referee in and Gillett did just fine over 90 minutes.
