'I Fully Expect' - Expert: Tottenham could sign England star 'next year'

Tottenham could explore a deal to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze next year as they continue to keep tabs on his progress.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains very well-connected at Spurs, revealed that the club will keep a close eye on his performances both for Palace and England this year.

Should the 26-year-old prove he is capable of making the step up to a top team through his displays at Selhurst Park, Tottenham will be among the clubs looking to land his signature.

However, it has been a difficult season so far for Eze and Crystal Palace, who remain winless from their opening seven Premier League games.

Football Insider revealed on 4 October that the attacking midfielder’s £68million release clause is set to reactivate next summer, but clubs will eye a cut-price deal.

He will have just two years remaining on his contract in the summer of 2025, which would see Palace tempted by offers worth around £50-60million.

Robinson has insisted that Spurs will be among multiple top clubs aiming to complete a deal next year.

Tottenham among top clubs keeping tabs on Eberechi Eze

Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all keeping an eye on Eze’s progress and are prepared to rival Tottenham’s interest ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

Robinson explained that Postecoglou’s side are looking at signing a new attacking midfielder to either play alongside or rival James Maddison for his position.

However, he confessed that the deal would be unlikely to happen in the January transfer window.

“An attack-minded midfielder is something they are looking at alongside James Maddison,” he told Football Insider.

“Eze, depending on how this season goes with Crystal Palace, will sit down and see where his future lies.

“It’ll be a tough one to get done in the winter.

“He’s under contract until 2027, so come next summer he’ll have two years left on his contract.

“I fully expect there to be interest in Eze if he has a good season for Palace this year and plays well for England as well.

“There’ll be a number of clubs ready to take him away from Selhurst Park next year.

“The top clubs in England will all be after him.

“The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are all admirers of Eze and are keeping tabs on his situation ahead of next summer’s transfer window.”
