'I just couldn't believe': ESPN pundit shocked at what he spotted Newcastle's Tonali do to Kylian Mbappe

Newcastle United haven’t been at their best performance wise so far this season but they’ve found a way to grind out positive results.

Eddie Howe‘s side remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season with seven points from three games.

Newcastle weren’t able to get the players they wanted to during the summer as Marc Guehi’s supposed move from Crystal Palace never materialised due to Steve Parish‘s stubbornness.

However, the return of Sandro Tonali has been huge for the Tyneside club.

He’s slotted straight back into the middle of midfield alongside his two good friends Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, who helped him a lot during his months off.

And, it looks as if he saved his best performance yet for the international stage…

Sandro Tonali skins Kylian Mbappe during Italy vs France

Everyone knew just how good Sandro Tonali could be on his day, but his performance against France really reminded people of the special player he is.

One ESPN pundit in particular was blown away by what he did against one of the best players in the world, Kylian Mbappe.

When speaking on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel, Herculez Gomez had this to say.

“Tonight there was a play where Sandro Tonali down the left-hand side put the jets on him (Kylian Mbappe) and I’m like what’s going on here.

“It was like Kylian Mbappe was going against a regular player. It created some separation that I just couldn’t believe.”

How did Sandro Tonali play vs France?

Tonali received a lot of praise from Italy boss Luciano Spalletti for his performance against France.

SofaScore gave Tonali a rating of 7.5. He had 58 touches of the ball, a passing accuracy rating of 70%, made two key passes, an assist, and won five ground duels and three tackles.

It must be exciting for Newcastle fans to see their star man back playing and thriving against some of the best in the world, with the hope that he can replicate these kind of performances at club level.
