'I will say': Micah Richards has one concern about Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth
What do we think❓
Although Tottenham Hotspur will be delighted to have completed a move for Dominic Solanke over the weekend, there’s still a lot of work to be done for Daniel Levy.
Solanke was thought to be Ange Postecoglou’s number one target this summer, so the move is a win in that regard.
But Spurs are playing something of a risky game leaving the majority of their business so late in the window.
Tottenham would still benefit from several additions across their midfield and defence, which isn’t quite equipped for the addition of a Europa League campaign.
Destiny Udogie doesn’t have any natural cover at left-back, and given that Emerson Royal is close to joining AC Milan, the same can soon be said for Pedro Porro.
Perhaps Archie Gray can fulfil that role, but his long-term future must belong in midfield, perhaps alongside Lucas Bergvall one day.
That being said, when speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, pundit Micah Richards had one more immediate concern with Spurs’ deal for Solanke.
Micah Richards says Dominic Solanke will face a lot more pressure at Tottenham
When raising an issue with Solanke’s move to Tottenham, most would imagine it would be regarding the fee that Levy paid to sign the striker from Bournemouth.
That wasn’t a big concern for Richards, who instead pointed out that Solanke played in a set-up that was tailored for him on the south coast, saying life at Spurs will present a fresh challenge.
Richards shared: “He has got good movement, hasn’t he? The only thing I will say, not to be negative, but the Bournemouth team was built around him.
“Whereas he will definitely give them a better option, and going to a bigger club there is sometimes a bit more pressure.
“I think it’s a very good signing. I think £65 million is a lot of money but he adds something different to what they have.”

Perhaps Solanke will need a little bit more time than many expect to adjust to life in north London.
But the English international, who only has one cap to his name thus far, will get plenty of chances to score at Tottenham, a Postecoglou side who is always on the front foot.
That being said, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have also shared their honest view on Tottenham signing Solanke.
