Rangers dropped two more points in a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday.
The Gers welcomed the Tangerines home on 23 November, and Vaclav Cerny’s strike after the break cancelled a goal from Sam Dalby in the first half as the match ended all square.
Philippe Clement made a surprising change in the starting lineup, staring Dujon Sterling ahead of James Tavernier, and the 25-year-old put in a decent performance on an otherwise disappointing day.
Here are the Ibrox News player ratings from the game:
Jack Butland – 6
Couldn’t have done much as Dalby opened the scoring in the fixture. Didn’t have much to do apart from that and did the basics well when he was called upon.
Dujon Sterling – 6
Started over Tavernier and was decent going forward. Made some good challenges in defence. Was strong in his duels and won a majority of them. But his
John Souttar – 4
Came back after an impressive spell with Scotland during the international break but couldn’t stop Dundee United from scoring. Gave the ball away with some poor passes on a few occasions. Apart from that was pivotal at releasing the pressure with his long balls at times.
Robin Propper – 5
Should’ve picked up Dalby, who was unmarked in the six-yard box for his goal. Found the back of the net towards the end of the first half but was ruled out after it was handled during the build-up. Came out solid in the second half and shut out the opposition’s attacks.
Jefte – 7
Was one of the few threats for Rangers in the attacking third. Created three chances in the game, as per FotMob. Was substituted a few minutes after the hour mark.
Connor Barron – 6
Looked uncomfortable as he found it hard to get on the ball and create much in the opening 45 minutes. Had a better time of things in the second half as the Light Blues controlled the game.
Nicolas Raskin – 8
Swept up the threat in the engine room and consistently ensured to provide a threat for Rangers in the attacking third.
Vaclav Cerny mesmerised in Rangers v Dundee United
Vaclav Cerny – 9
Was a constant threat down the right for the Bears. Scored the equaliser and brought the Bears back into the game. Ripped open the left-hand side of the Tangerines’ defence.
Mohamed Diomande – 3
Rightfully off at half-time after making errors in the middle of the park. Had a combined xG and xA of 0.02 [FotMob], showcasing a lack of impact.
Nedim Bajrami – 5
Was a bit predictable as he wanted to come inside on his preferred foot. Didn’t do much and was the weak link in the attack in the second half before being substituted.
Cyriel Dessers – 1
Another player hooked off after 45 minutes, with the striker cutting a frustrating figure and hardly getting on the ball. Quite simply not good enough, as this latest non-show highlights.
Substitutes
Ianis Hagi – 6
Wasn’t flashy but brought more control to the team. His shot towards the end of the game forced some brilliant saves from the opposition goalkeeper after a rebound.
Danilo – 7
Provided the assist for the equaliser. Linked up with Cerny on multiple occasions. Was a constant threat and made a case to start over Dessers in the upcoming matches.
Ridvan Yilmaz – 5
Hamza Igamane – 5
Showed his inexperience at times but could’ve been the hero towards the end had Walton not pulled off a goal-line save. Had other opportunities stoppage time but was unable to find the back of the net.
In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd can see James Tavernier leaving after what he’s heard.
