Ibrox View: 'Dispensable' Rangers star drops Ibrox exit hint with new social media post

Todd Cantwell has been a divisive figure throughout his time at Rangers and that has remained the case during the summer transfer window.

As Philippe Clement looks to put his stamp on the Gers squad, the attacking midfielder has been one of the names linked with exit door with reports suggesting that he is “dispensable” if the right bid arrives for his services [Chris Jack, 28 May].

Some supporters have been disappointed by this news while other pundits and fans have admitted that they think the time has come for the former Norwich City man to move on after a disappointing campaign at Ibrox.

But talk of Cantwell departing may well be a bit premature as the midfielder’s latest social media post would suggest that he isn’t even thinking about a move away from the Gers this summer.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (29 June) the Englishman posted a video compilation of his best moments in a Light Blues shirt over the last couple of years with the caption “The best is coming”.

Although this isn’t concrete, it would suggest that Cantwell is hinting that he has another gear yet to hit at Ibrox and if that is the case, it seems very unlikely that he will be one of those to depart before the start of next season.

That could obviously change at the drop of a hat if the right sort of offer was made for his services in the coming weeks and months, but at this moment in time, it seems that a summer exit is off the cards for the Englishman.

Should he remain in Glasgow, the 26-year-old seriously needs to up his game, particularly when it comes to the Old Firm matches as too often he lets the Celtic midfield get on top of him and take him out of the game.

Hopefully, his prediction is right and the best is yet to come of the midfielder in a Gers shirt. If he wants to keep the fans onside, he will have to do his talking on the pitch rather than on social media.
