Ibrox View: Rangers could cash in on £4.2m ace as free agent transfer checked

Ridvan Yilmaz has been linked with a move away from Rangers since January, and fans could finally see that come to fruition this summer.

The 23-year-old was subject to interest from Galatasaray in the last transfer window, though a deal fell through on deadline day after the Turkish club pulled out all the stops [Daily Record].

While there is no real rush to sell Yilmaz this summer, his age and talent make him one of the more sellable assets at Ibrox and could be a victim of Philippe Clement’s rebuild.

The interest in the full-back has not died down this summer, albeit no links with Galatasaray yet, with his former side Besiktas already pulling out of a deal for the player due to the £4.2million price tag [Ajansspor].

However, with Rangers confirming the signing of Jefte from Fluminense, and the newest transfer link at Ibrox, the club may be hoping that another club comes along so they can cash in on Yilmaz.

According to HITC [25 June], Clement’s side are one of the multiple clubs keeping tabs on 24-year-old Ryan Sessegnon, who is set to leave Tottenham once his contract expires at the end of the month.

Of course, the attacking full-back has an extremely worrying injury history with Spurs, having only played 57 games since arriving from Fulham in 2019.

Without the injury setbacks, Sessegnon is one of the most exciting high-flying full-backs and was tipped for greatness during his time at Craven Cottage, having scored 25 goals in 120 matches.

Sessegnon’s availability as a free agent makes his signing relatively low risk, unless his wage demands are outrageously excessive, which could bump Yilmaz down the pecking order next season.

Though the Turkish left-back has recently become a more favourable figure at Ibrox, it remains to be seen whether his injury record could seal his exit from the club this summer.
