Merouane Zemmama has praised Rangers for the impending signing of Hamza Igamane, with his value already predicted to increase “dramatically”.

According to The Scottish Sun [22 June], the AS Far striker has already signed a five-year contract at Ibrox and is set to join as the fifth signing of the transfer window in a £2.5million deal.

While Igamane will be keen to get going with Philippe Clement and the team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, the Moroccan could be chosen to play at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun on Tuesday (25 June), Zemmama – who played for Hibernian – believes this will cause his price to skyrocket already.

“Morocco have qualified for the Olympics and if they do well, it’s inevitable their players will be watched by bigger clubs,” he said. “If Hamza plays in the Olympics and does well, the valuation of him will change dramatically.

“It could turn out that Rangers have done some really clever business by signing him now. Qualifying for the Olympics is a big thing in Morocco. This is the first time the country has ever qualified in the last three competitions.

“The squad going to the Olympics hasn’t been named yet, but I’d be surprised if Hamza isn’t in it.”

Rangers already set for transfer profit as Hamza Igamane nears official Ibrox announcement

While profit will not be at the forefront of Clement or Nils Koppen’s minds currently, it is certainly not a negative spin on the to-be-announced transfer this summer.

Igamane has no experience in European football, which could be a worry for some, though Zemmema believes that the 21-year-old will settle in well at Ibrox.

With seven goals and six assists in 20 matches last season, Igamane will be arriving at his new club off the back of a sensational season in terms of goal contributions.

It is unclear exactly what the youngster’s role will be under Clement next season, with Danilo set to return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, though Cyriel Dessers is expected to leave this summer.

The manager is looking to rebuild the Rangers squad during the summer transfer window, but this is certainly a difficult task with a shoestring budget at Ibrox.

Because of this, cheap deals like the one for Igamane are vital to the Gers’ success next season, and any profit made at the end of his stay in Scotland is a positive.

In other Rangers news, the Gers could cash in on Ridvan Yilmaz this summer as a free agent update emerges at Ibrox.
