Heart and Hand issue verdict on Clement-Shankland stance as Dessers likely to leave Rangers

Heart and Hand claim that Philippe Clement has never given the impression that he wants Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland at Rangers.

David Edgar, who runs the podcast, took to Twitter on 6 July to state that Cyriel Dessers was also highly likely to leave Ibrox this summer.

This leaves Clement with two striker options in Danilo and new signing Hamza Igamane.

When asked about Shankland, Heart and Hand responded: “That really depends on the manager who’s never given the impression he’s that keen on him.”

Gers should seriously consider signing Shankland because he is a proven goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership, having scored 31 goals in all competitions for Hearts last season.

The other strikers that Gers would want instead of the Scotland international are likely to be too expensive, with the club operating on a limited budget.

Signing the 28-year-old would represent good value for money, as he is likely to be available for a relatively modest fee.

Furthermore, Gers currently have only two recognised strikers in their squad – Danilo and new signing Igamane, assuming Dessers is set to leave.

This means that they are in desperate need of reinforcements in attack and Shankland would provide much-needed competition and cover in that area of the pitch.

This could be a signing that Nils Koppen recommends to Clement but there is no reason why the Belgian should be opposed to the deal.
