Ibrox View: Rangers now step closer to windfall as Fabrizio Romano issues Monday PM update

Rangers are now a step closer to getting an extra windfall as Glen Kamara is set to leave Leeds United for Rennes.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Monday, 15 July, the Finland international will undergo his medical on Tuesday before joining for an £8.4million fee.

It’s understood that this will trigger the sell-on clause Gers had put in his move to Elland Road last summer, which is set to benefit them financially. [Daily Record, 1 July]

Romano wrote via X: “Glen Kamara will undergo medical tests as new Rennes player on Tuesday.

“Deal done for €10m with Leeds United as revealed on Saturday. Exclusive story, set to be confirmed.”

Rangers make right transfer decision with Glen Kamara

Gers’ decision to include a sell-on clause in the transfer in 2023 was a strategic move that has now proven to be a profitable one.

With Kamara’s imminent transfer to Rennes for an £8.4million fee, the Ibrox are set to receive a significant windfall due to a sell-on clause included in the original deal.

The money from Kamara’s sell-on clause should be reinvested into the squad to strengthen key areas and maintain competitiveness.

It could be used to secure promising young talents, bolster the team’s depth, or target experienced players who can make an immediate impact.

By reinvesting the funds wisely, the club can ensure that the sale of Kamara not only brings financial benefits but also contributes to the club’s long-term success on the field.

This approach demonstrates the club’s ability to make shrewd business decisions that align with their sporting ambitions.

In other Rangers news, a striker linked with a move to Ibrox now admits that he could leave and hold talks with his club.
