Ibrox View: Rangers to tell player to clear out locker ASAP as news emerges in last 24 hours

Rangers announcing the signing of Clinton Nsiala from AC Milan may spell the end of the road for Ben Davies at Ibrox.

Gers confirmed on their official website on Monday evening, 10 June, that they had signed the 20-year-old permanently not long after it had been revealed that they had beaten Italian and German clubs to his signature. [Foot Mercato]

Nsiala, a left-footed defender, is seen as a promising talent who could potentially replace Davies in the squad, making the 28-year-old redundant.

Ben Davies has struggled to make a mark at Rangers

Davies, who joined Gers from Liverpool in 2022, has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular, often finding himself on the bench or out of the squad altogether.

His performance at Gers has been mixed, with some fans and pundits questioning his ability to adapt to the demands of Scottish football.

His lack of consistent playing time suggests that the coaching staff may not fully trust him to perform at the level required.

Nsiala, on the other hand, is a young and hungry player who is eager to prove himself at a big club like Rangers.

His left-footedness, like Davies, makes him a natural fit for the left-sided centre-back role in the Gers defence.

While it’s too early to say for sure, Nsiala’s arrival could very well spell the end of Davies’ time at Ibrox and he may be told to clear out his locker room right away now that the deal is done.

Rangers
Ben Davies has been in and out of the Rangers team this past season.

If the French defender performs well and establishes himself in the first team, Davies may find himself surplus to requirements so it makes sense to cash in on his services this summer.

In other Rangers news, a Premier League midfielder with “great quality” is now up for grabs this summer amid a recent development with a move to Ibrox on the cards.
