'I'd like to see...' - Ferguson tells Clement to make Bajrami decision for showdown v Kilmarnock

Derek Ferguson has told Philippe Clement he’d like to see Nedim Bajrami start as Rangers’ number 10 for the clash with Kilmarnock.

The Light Blues make the trip to Rugby Park on Sunday (20 October) as they get their Premiership season back underway and look to extend their winning run in the Premiership to four matches.

While Bajrami started as the number 10 for the Gers against St Johnstone, he has spent much of his Gers career so far playing out wide and Open Goal pundit Ferguson has urged Clement to stand by the Albanian international.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (17 October, 1:08:00) he said: “I’d like to see Bajrami come in one.

“But then again he’s got good legs, hasn’t he? He’s a good athlete. It’s interesting to see who will be the 10. It’s a game they’ll be looking forward to.”

Bajrami has had an impressive start to life at Ibrox, despite spending the majority of his Gers career so far out of position.

The Albanian international has added a creative spark to Clement’s side that was desperately needed this summer, particularly after Todd Cantwell completed his last-minute move to Blackburn Rovers.

But with Tom Lawrence struggling with injury, Ianis Hagi suspended and Kieran Dowell not in the best form, it does feel as though the time is now right for Bajrami to be given a run of games to impress as the Gers’ number 10.

The 25-year-old was signed to play in that position and while he is more than capable of impressing from other areas of the field, it does feel as though he has been slightly wasted by being pushed out onto the left wing.

Rugby Park is by no means an easy place to go as an away side and the Gers simply have to pick their best XI to ensure they claim all three points.

Without a doubt, Bajrami is the best number 10 currently available to Clement and therefore he has to start.
