Alan Myers has admitted that he is sure that Everton are working on a deal to sign a new striker next at Goodison Park.
The Sky Sports journalist replied to a fan via X on 28 July, with the Toffees closing in on Lyon defender Jake O’Brien next [Fabrizio Romano].
Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche have been busy so far this summer, with O’Brien set to join up with the likes of Jack Harrison, Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye at the club.
Everton to make new striker transfer number one priority
Of all the teams in the Premier League, Everton has been one of the busiest this transfer window.
It was evident after their poor showing last term that change was needed across the board. Indeed, the club did suffer a total of eight points deducted from two separate PSR breaches but that doesn’t excuse the players’ poor on-the-pitch performance at times.
One of their main areas of worry was that of their attack. The club had the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto leading their line which evidently didn’t work out.
So, although the additions of Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom [Fabrizio Romano, 26 July] will help their case somewhat, the club needs to find a suitable number nine that can be relied upon to finish week-in and week-out.
Myers fails to mention any potential attacking targets for the Toffees this summer but players such as Wilfried Gnonto [i News, 25 July] and Armando Broja are among those who have been linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano has detailed the Toffees’ state of play in regard to Jarrad Branthwaite.
