'I'm told...' – Alan Brazil shares what he's heard on 'Massive' behind-the-scenes Rangers issue

Rangers are involved in a huge power struggle between the different members of the Ibrox boardroom, according to Alan Brazil.

Speaking on talkSPORT (31 October, 7:25am), Brazil said that despite him being no stranger to poking fun at the Gers, he’s been told of a “massive rift” between decision-makers at the beleaguered club.

The Light Blues suffered a 2-1 loss to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on 30 October which leaves them nine points behind in the title race, but Brazil highlighted that pressure isn’t only coming on Philippe Clement.

He said: “What about the board – I’ve been told for ages, I know I have a little bit of a wind-up now and again, but I’m told there’s a massive rift in the board.

“I’m told that there are people – not (quite) queuing up to put money in – but they’re very selective who they want to bring in and give power to.”

Rangers problems set to spiral as boardroom rift continues

Take one look almost any aspect of Rangers, and you’ll find significant problems at every single level, and the club have a lengthy to-do list if they’re to turn things around either on or off the pitch.

Clement has rightfully been slammed for his side’s lack of an evident style of play which came to a head at Pittodrie, but the Belgian certainly hasn’t been helped by a rudderless leadership structure above him.

A barebones boardroom attempting to fix the problems of years gone by have just announced significant losses for the past 12 months, and disposing of Clement would only add to the outgoing costs.

However, no matter how badly the Gers’ form turns under Clement, fans will have next to no confidence that if the 50-year-old is sacked, decision-makers at Ibrox have the nous to hire the right replacement.

With John Gilligan stepping in to fill the void left by John Bennett’s resignation, but still no CEO in place for months on-end and Creag Robertson set for the exit door, the issues at Ibrox run deep.

Public fall-outs with majority shareholder Dave King hasn’t helped Gilligan to steady the ship whatsoever, and with outside investment looking hopeful at best, it remains to be seen just how long this Rangers rut can last.

In other Rangers news, Clement’s comments regarding one out-of-form new Ibrox signing have been slammed as “nonsense”.
