'I'm very protective': Dejan Kulusevski says he has taken 'extraordinary' Tottenham youngster under his wing

Tottenham Hotspur have made quite a name for themselves in the youth transfer market in recent years.

Spurs struck gold with the signings of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie, who have both become first-team stars.

More recently, Tottenham welcomed Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert to N17, while Yang Min-hyuk is set to arrive next year.

At just 18 years of age, Bergvall has already played for Sweden’s senior team, winning his second and third caps this month.

The £8million signing from Djurgarden can count on Dejan Kulusevski as a teammate at both club and international level.

Kulusevski has now spoken about what he’s been doing to help Bergvall progress in his career for Spurs and Sweden.

Tottenham ace Dejan Kulusevski eager to let Lucas Bergvall enjoy his football

Kulusevski told the official Tottenham website: “I think for us around him, the best way to help him is to not give him too much information.

“Just let him play football as he’s a very good player and that’s what I’m trying to do to help him.

“When people tell me to help him in different ways, I’m very protective of telling him too much because I just want him to have fun and enjoy it.

“I don’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on him because he’s very young.”

Exciting times ahead for Bergvall and Tottenham

Bergvall is an “extraordinary” talent with the world at his feet and, at just 18 years of age, is already in and around the starting picture for club and country.

September has proven a fruitful month for the Sweden international, and now he has the chance to make an impact in Spurs’ biggest fixture of the season.

Should Bergvall come on and shine – maybe even score a goal or provide an assist – for Tottenham in their meeting with Arsenal, he’d instantly become a fan favourite at N17.
