David Edgar believes that the board members would only leave their positions at Rangers for money.
The Heart and Hand podcast host stated that they cannot be kicked out of the club as they own the shares.
So, the only way for them to not be associated with the club is if someone buys out their stake.
Edgar wrote on X: “Will never happen as they own the shares. So it’s just empty howling to say it.
“We need to live in the real world.
“No, only when someone buys them out will they.
“I had 10 years trying to force change at board level. MUST twenty at Man Utd, loads of other examples. The only thing that changes boards is money.”
Rangers need a complete overhaul of their structure
Fans may harbour scepticism regarding board changes at Ibrox due to the entrenched positions of the board members who own significant shares in the club.
As Edgar has pointed out, these board members are unlikely to be ousted unless their shares are bought out.
This ownership structure means that their influence over club decisions remains secure, making it difficult for fans to effect change through traditional means like protests or voting.
The sentiment highlights a broader issue across football governance where shareholder power often trumps fan influence.
This dynamic can lead to disillusionment among supporters who feel their voices are marginalised in the club’s strategic and operational decisions.
Hopefully, Patrick Stewart’s arrival can help right a lot of the wrongs but it’s not going to be an overnight thing and might take a lot of time.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on Derek McInnes replacing Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
