Injury Expert: Everton star 'Major Doubt' for Brentford clash with new setback possible

Everton attacker Dwight McNeil remains a major doubt for the Brentford clash with the possibility still occuring of a new injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he’s got ongoing knee discomfort or soreness and the best case would be just that, but a more damaging scenario could be a new setback that will keep him out longer.

The Toffees play host to Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday, 23 November.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about McNeil: “This sounds like he has ongoing knee discomfort or soreness that he’s trying to work through with a physio while still trying to participate in matches.

“Best case would be just mild soreness, while the worst case would be a new injury creating it.

“It all depends on how and if he trains in the coming days but he still remains a major doubt for the next game.“

Dwight McNeil has been an important player for Everton this season

McNeil was spotted at Finch Farm on 14 November so that’s an encouraging sign of him gearing towards full fitness.

However, whether or not he’s in individual training or full contact first-team training has not yet been specified by the Liverpool Echo.

The 24-year-old has been pivotal for the Toffees in the final third this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 10 league games.
