'It's certain' - Doctor: Rangers player will not start v Dundee United after injury latest

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz will not start against Dundee United after his recent injury setback, Dr Rajpal Brar has said.

The injury expert claims that while the Turkey international is close to returning to first-team football after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, starting a game is still premature for him.

The Gers play host to Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday, 23 November.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Yilmaz is getting closer to game action as he has returned to team training.

“The best way to re-integrate him will be gradually introducing him into matches and then bumping those minutes if he responds well.

“Yilmaz’s ramp-up will very likely be significantly longer as he was out for a considerably long spell.

“It’s certain he won’t start this weekend even if he’s cleared fit to play as he’s severely lacking match sharpness.”

It makes complete sense to not start the 23-year-old against Dundee United as he’s some way away from being at full fitness.

He last played on 13 August and since then has not kicked a football professionally so his match sharpness is at a low.

It will take some time for him to return to full fitness and the best way will be to ease him back rather than making him start right away.
