'It's True' - Exclusive: Stefan Borson drops huge Nottingham Forest points deduction news

Nottingham Forest are “on the edge” of a PSR breach and will need to raise £65million this summer to avoid another points deduction.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Forest are under pressure to raise money before the cut-off date of June 30.

Forest faced a four-point deduction last season after exceeding their allowable losses under Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The club’s allowable loss limit has grown to £83million for the 2023-24 season after spending an additional season in the top flight, but the club are still at risk of another breach and therefore another points deduction.

The PSR accounting period ends on June 30th, meaning Forest will have to balance their books before the cut-off date to avoid another breach.

Nottingham Forest need £65m in sales to avoid PSR breach

Borson revealed that Forest will need around £60-£65million in player sales to steer clear of another punishment.

“It’s true that Nottingham Forest this season will be right on the edge of a PSR breach,” Borson told Football Insider’s James Murray.

“They have an £83million limit because in the last three years they have spent two of those in the Premier League and one in the EFL.

“So they’re limited to losses of £83million.

“I think by the end of June they will need to have quite a chunky player profit, probably in the order of £60million to £65million.

“We know they have already had quite a big profit from the sale of Brennan Johnson.“
