Rangers are “living in cloud cuckoo land” with their valuation of James Tavernier.
That’s the opinion of former Celtic star Frank McAvennie, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the right-back.
Goldson has already departed Ibrox Stadium on an undisclosed fee to join Aris Limassol, while Tavernier is also expected to leave.
Former Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has reportedly been pushing for his current club, Besiktas to make a move for the 32-year-old.
Rangers will struggle to bargain with clubs for James Tavernier
Rangers are currently struggling financially and have to sell players to raise funds for any potential transfers.
Even though they want to gain as much money as possible for Tavernier, those issues could prove problematic.
“I got told by a well-placed source it was only £2million or £3million,” McAvennie told Football Insider about Tavernier’s valuation.
“He’s coming into the end of his contract isn’t he, they’re not going to get that money.
“They’re living in cloud cuckoo land if they think they’re going to get that kind of money for him and Goldson.
“They’re talking about £20-odd million, and I’m saying they’re off their head.
“Everyone knows they’re skint, so they’re not going to be paying that kind of money.
“It’s not a good bargaining chip to go in when people know you’ve got no money.
“People know you’re desperate for money; it’s not a good way to start bargaining, is it?
“It’s one of them; they’re not going to get that kind of money for him.”
