John Wenham has ripped into Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder had his Tottenham contract terminated.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the money wasted on the Frenchman has prevented the club from pushing on and making big-money signings.
Ndomeble saw his Spurs contract terminated a year early recently, bringing an end to his five-year stay in North London (via The Athletic, 12 June).
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is delighted to see the back of Ndombele.
“I’m not surprised that he has left,” Wenham said.
“I’m sure the initial plan would have been to send him on loan again. However, Tottenham probably realised that no one was going to help them cover his salary.
“All in, the club probably spent about £100million on Ndombele and got absolutely nothing in return.
“He’s been a burden around the club and probably a big reason why we haven’t been able to make as many big-money signings.”

Daniel Levy probably kicks himself every day over the signing of Ndombele.
At the time it was viewed as quite the coup for Spurs who were fresh off a UEFA Champions League final appearance.
Ndombele was seen as someone who would help push the club on. However, his time in the Premier League ended up being a complete and utter disaster.
It is hard to think of a less successful Premier League signing and there is probably some truth to the suggestion that his transfer prevented Tottenham from making many other big-money moves.
As a result, everyone connected with the club will be happy to see him leave.
