Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola admitted to Sean Dyche at full-time that Everton were the better team of the two.
Despite being 2-0 up in the 85th minute, the Toffees somehow managed to come away from their game against Bournemouth with nothing but red faces.
Speaking after the game, Iraola shared that he told Dyche that the Toffees “deserved to win” the game.
Sky Sports and Liverpool Echo journalist Tony Scott posted via X [31 August]: “Andoni Iraola told Sean Dyche at the final whistle that Everton were the better team today and deserved to win.”
Sean Dyche needs to find a way to get Everton performing
Last season was arguably one of the toughest in Everton’s history. The Toffees were handed the heaviest points deduction in English top-flight history.
They ended up with two separate deductions due to two separate breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
However, despite the turmoil that they faced last term, after the three opening games of the 2024/25 Premier League season, it feels as if they are in a worse place now than they were last term.
Things started to look up for the club as they managed to get themselves a two-goal cushion going into the final five minutes of the clash.
However, after a catastrophic collapse, they failed to see the game out and missed out on all three points.
Despite Iliman Ndiaye playing well in his first Premier League start, the Senegal international couldn’t do enough to carry the team over the line.
Things need to change sooner rather than later for Everton and there’s no doubt that the club will be looking forward to adding Orel Mangala to their lineup after the international break to help solidify the squad.
The question, though, is whether Sean Dyche will still be in the dugout come then?
In other Everton news, Ernest Nuamah’s reason behind snubbing the Toffees has been shared.
