Journalist View: Philippe Clement could find himself in 'trouble' soon at Rangers

Dan Bardell believes Rangers could hold off making new signings with Philippe Clement’s future potentially unsafe.

In an article for Rangers Review on 13 July, Stevie Clifford wrote that the Gers will complete plenty more business before the end of the transfer window.

Sources close to the club have “offered reassurances” that new signings are coming which he said “can’t come soon enough”.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that the Light Blues could hold off in the window with him unsure of Clement’s future.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It’s clear that to push on, Rangers do need a bit of a rebuild.

“It all depends on how much control the manager has over the hierarchy in terms of transfers. If he gets off to a bad start next season then Clement is going to be in a bit of trouble off the back of last season.

“I think a revamp is needed after being second best yet again. They’ll need some changes and improvements which the manager will want to do in his own mould.

“It’ll depend on how far Rangers want to push that and how sure they are that he’s going to be there for the long term.“

Rangers unsure on Philippe Clement

The Gers have already made plenty of signings, this early in the transfer window, with the likes of Connor Barron and Hamza Igamane coming in.

With that being said, Clement is yet to be afforded much transfer budget with the Moroccan being the largest outlay so far.

There have been links to the likes of Joan Jordan from Sevilla but that deal would likely be a loan as opposed to a permanent deal.

It could be suggested that the Rangers hierarchy aren’t necessarily backing Clement financially which could point towards his future being unsure at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement may have to look elsewhere in order to raise funds for new arrivals.
