Journo View: Tottenham receive boost as Brentford injury news emerges

Dan Bardell believes Tottenham have to be wary of Bryan Mbeumo despite Brentford being without Yoane Wissa through injury.

Thomas Frank confirmed that the DR Congo international will be out for “a couple of months” after going off injured against Manchester City [Brentfordfc.com].

This will be a boost to Ange Postecoglou’s side given that the 28-year-old has already scored three Premier League goals this season.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes Mbeumo will cause a problem for Spurs even without Wissa available.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I still think it will be a tricky game, Brentford are a difficult outfit to play whoever they line up with.

Their best and most important player is Mbeumo, he and Wissa have been brilliant for them.

Obviously, Wissa not playing against Tottenham, they are weakened. It is Mbeumo who Spurs have got to watch, him and Brentford are good at a lot of things.

Tottenham are in a rough patch of form and a narrow victory against Coventry City hasn’t done much to help ease concerns.

Postecoglou will be eager to get back on the winning trail in the Premier League after losing their last two to Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The backline will have less work on their hands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without Wissa featuring given how good he has been to start to season.

With that being said, Spurs now have to focus on their goalscoring exploits with Dominic Solanke coming under fire in recent days and weeks for his showings.

Against the Bees, there is an excellent chance to return to winning ways after a difficult spell.

In other Tottenham news, contract talks with star have been planned as a £100m transfer has been mooted.
