Juventus ready to 'battle' for Everton Women ace Hanna Bennison - report

Juventus Women are “hopeful” of signing Hanna Bennison from Everton Women in the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian.

The report states that, although the Italian side are interested in the transfer of the midfielder, Juve may have to enter into a “battle” to acquire her services.

The newspaper’s online edition [25 June] states that the Sweden international has just a year left on her deal on Merseyside and negotiations regarding a move are still “ongoing”.

What would the transfer of Hanna Bennison mean to Everton Women?

Everton have never been contenders for the WSL title and ended up finishing in mid-table once again come the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Toffees finished eighth in the table, some 17 points clear of the bottom of the league but never really troubling the higher spots in the division.

Indeed, they were closer to the bottom than they were the top with Chelsea triumphing on 55 points, meaning Everton were some 22 back of the champions by the end of the final standings.

There’s no doubt that the Toffees will be looking to make their way further up the table and ensure that they finish up with a better points tally than the 2023/24 season.

Although the loss of Everton’s club-record transfer [Sky Sports, 2 September 2021] would leave Brian Sorensen with a huge void to fill in midfield, they will hope to get more than the “substantial six-figure sum” back for the 21-year-old.

This, in turn, would allow the club to reinvest across their team and hopefully improve their results.
