'Keen on the move': Fabrizio Romano claims 'complete' £40m player interested in West Ham switch

West Ham United have been one of the busier Premier League teams on the transfer front over the past few weeks.

The Hammers have already got two signings over the line in Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham, and a third is apparently close.

West Ham hare reportedly struck a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers over Max Kilman, who is said to be on the verge of a move.

Kilman is not the only defender the Hammers are said to be pursuing. Another name has been doing the rounds amid conflicting reports.

Fabrizio Romano says Jean-Clair Todibo is keen on West Ham move

The player in question is Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, who West Ham have reportedly bid for, but the player’s club apparently rejected the offer.

One report suggested that Todibo wasn’t keen on a switch to the Hammers, but Fabrizio Romano doesn’t believe this is the case.

“I’m not aware that Jean-Clair Todibo wasn’t interested in a move to West Ham,” he told CaughtOffside.

“I understand that West Ham were never going to bid for him without guarantees on the player side.

“And though he was keen on the move the problem was on the price – which is still considered to be too high.

“The race for Todibo remains open, and there are several clubs interested.”

Todibo would be a great shout for West Ham

Romano’s report claiming Todibo wasn’t unconvinced about joining West Ham will no doubt go down well among fans.

The Hammers are reportedly assessing whether to make another bid for the 24-year-old France international.

With Kilman now set to join, there isn’t as much pressure on the Hammers to get a deal over the line for Todibo.

That said, the £40million man is a great player and would be another excellent addition to the West Ham ranks.

Todibo, who stands at 6ft 3in, made 33 appearances for Nice as they finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season.

In 2023, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed Todibo “the complete package” and “one of the most underrated CBs in Europe at the moment”.

West Ham must be mindful of rival suitors though, as Todibo is a player in demand.

As well as links with Man United and Tottenham, Arsenal have also been credited with an interest.
